much sought after tracks from dual action’s (aka matthew folden) “babe beer bar car” tape series, released between 2014 - 2016. compiled and made available on vinyl for the first time by dominick fernow’s hospital productions label.

this is the second in a reissue series of dominick fernow’s early work as rainforest spiritual enslavement, casting spells from the green amulet crafts supernatural qualities (2011) tape onto vinyl for the first time and steadily closing the gap in your rse collection.
something like the soundtrack to one of ballard’s prophetic visions of sunken cities, this second rse incursion was initially released in an edition of 63 tapes in 2011 and found fernow dwelling in a dread-fuelled, paranoid headspace.

in time for the 20th anniversary of his label hospital productions, dominick fernow offers the first release of his techno-focused moniker vatican shadow on ostgut ton, following up on his berghain residency and joining ostgut booking in 2016 with his vatican and prurient projects. the cocteau twins/this mortal coil-channelling, beatless widescreen opener “they deserve death” and the two collateral club/dancefloor tracks “rubbish of the floodwaters” and “weapons inspection” offset each other by reincarnating the tape manipulation that laid the foundation of vatican’s first performances with analog hardware and minimalist midi-dissection. produced in los angeles with josh eustis, vatican shadow’s rubbish of the floodwaters ep casts a full spectrum picture of where the project was born and where it headed.

“sometimes life can kick you in the nads”, says dominick martin (aka calibre). “when life does do that, i need to make music like this. with its tones of hope and gospel-level layers of self-recorded vocals. raw, uplifting, soulfull...” even to the most ardent of calibre follower, “grow” sounds like nothing else he’s done before. yet it’s not actually on the album it gave a name to. partly because its ultimately positive veneer (even though it was written in the midst of two toxic relationships - one personal, one with the bottle) doesn’t quite complement the deeper, more contemplative aesthetic of the album. but also because this is the start of a whole new story for calibre...

claudio mate & francesco mazzocco directly from dub-ito headquarter introduce for the third chapter of the label an artist that doesn’t need too many introductions... violet poison... during these last years violet’s music has been one of the most interesting alternative proposal also giving a great influence over ebm, industrial, techno movement with his dark/esoteric imprint. claudio and violet having a longtime music friendship, they both decided that it was the right time to do something unique. for this - voices from the hell - previously released exclusively on tape/cassette by hospital productions, got the placet for a new wax life directly by hospital main man dominick fernow.
